Next Generation PHS is ...
"Next-generation PHS" as well as the original PHS system have been developed as a BWA (broadband wireless
access) system able to achieve high efficiency spectral utilization, primarily due to the use of micro-cells with signal diameters much shorter than typical mobile phone cells.
“Next-generation PHS” in a broad sense provides an enhanced PHS system, based on TDMA-TDD.
"Next-generation PHS" additionally provides an OFDMA/TDMA-TDD system which adopts many superior features including,
Continuous connectivity at IP level
Higher transmission data rates compared to 3G systems: over 20 Mbps / 10 MHz
Higher transmission data rate for uplink: over 10 Mbps / 10 MHz
Increased spectral utilization efficiency:
-
"Adaptive array antenna technology" significantly increases the spectral utilization efficiency
"Space Division Multiple Access Technology" enables communication by multiple users simultaneously, on the same frequency, in the same cell.
"MIMO technology" provides higher volume data transmission, per user, using the same frequency simultaneously in the same cell
"Autonomous Decentralized Control Technology" enables dense coverage of cell stations, resulting in the flexible handling of increasing traffic loads.
Since "Next-generation PHS" provides an autonomous decentralized control method, enabling several operators to share the same frequency band, increased spectral utilization efficiency is possible.
"Next-generation PHS," whose service coverage areas consist of many micro-cells, is unique among BWA systems, .
