EXPO COMM WIRELESS JAPAN 98
EXPO COMM WIRELESS JAPAN 98, one of the exhibition and symposium on wireless communications organized by RIC Telecom and authorized by Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications Japan and Association of Radio Industries and Businesses (ARIB), was held at Makuhari in Japan on July 8 ~ 10, 1998.
Nearly 80 organizations exhibited their latest mobile communication and multi media equipment, and the key persons delivered presentation about latest technologies and the trend on mobile communications. Among them, major members of PHS MoU Group exhibited their latest PHS technologies and PHS equipment. More than 15,000 people participated in the three days events.

Hottest items in the exhibition are:
- Integrated multi media communications of PHS technology in the businesses,
- Latest mobile communication terminals for voice, data and picture transmission, including PHS technology,
- Next generation mobile communication technology, W-CDMA and cdmaOne,
- Satellite communication services.
Accordingly, many PHS terminals to support the above service were exhibited; such as Paldio E-Mail service by NTT Personal, P-Mail and Two Link Data services by DDI Pocket, Visual Phone and Data Phone by Kyocera, Mc-o1 (PHS Mail Walker) and GENIO (Multimedia Tool) by Toshiba, PHS PC-Card by Mitsubishi, and so on. With Visual Phone by Kyocera, one two-shot picture can be sent in two seconds to another Visual Phone while voice communication is being made or to a personal computer. In the public PHS services in Japan, the subscribers and the traffic of data transmission services have been increasing. (PHS MoU Group News No. 15.) It reflects the release of the above new products and is a proof that PHS industry is steadily expanding.
