World's First Color Videophone

Kyocera Corporation has released Visual Phone model VP-210, the world's first mobile phone for color image transmission over the PHS network. The new model incorporates a CMOS image sensor with approximately 110,000 pixels and a 2.0-inch reflective TFT color LCD. Along with the audio signal, it transmits and receives images realtime at a rate of approximately two frames per second, making it the world's first color videophone.

In addition, users can send and receive e-mail with image attachments by using the P-Mail DX (deluxe) service offered by the PHS operator DDI Pocket and also makes it easy to record images on the fly, opening up still further possibilities in visual communication.
It is said that the superiority of PHS data transmission capability has proven by this world first commercialized color videophone. Following is its principal features and specifications.
