Mobile PC with Built-in 64-kbps PHS Data Communications Functions


Fujitsu Ltd. started sales of "FMV-Biblo LOOX" mobile personal computers with built-in DDI Pocket's H" IN 64-kbps PHS high-speed data communications functions. With conventional mobile computing methods, users must insert a data communications card or connect a PHS terminal, in order to access the Internet. Now, utilizing H" IN function, users can easily enjoy the Internet without the use of cards or cables.

1. Introduction of online sign-up system

LOOX

In general, users can subscribe to DDI Pocket services at a shop where these users purchased PHS terminals; in case of "FMV-Biblo LOOX" with built-in H"IN, there is no need for sign up at a store. Users can subscribe when setting up the mobile PC or commencing mobile communications through the online sign-up system. Users can enter into H" IN signing-up icon displayed on a monitor. Then, the signing-up is duly processed in accordance with the guidance:

  1. H" IN module automatically make access to DDI Pocket's center;
  2. A user fills out necessary items and makes registration;
  3. Data input by the user are uploaded;
  4. The center registers the user; and,
  5. The center sends out a phone number to the user's mobile PC.

2. Preinstalled H" LINK

H" LINK functions, which enables e-mail and content services as well as Internet access, are included in H"IN. Accordingly, consumers can use Internet mail and content services without subscribing to an ISP, as is the case with H" terminal users. Other functions are as follows:

  • Indicating incoming e-mails: When an e-mail arrived at the center, an incoming e-mail indicator lamp on the keyboard's lower right side flashes.
  • Automatic e-mail reception: When setting automatic e-mail reception, the indicator lamp flashes and the terminal start receiving the e-mail, without e-mail reception operation.
