PHS at PT SUPER COMM ASIA 2001
The exhibition "PT SUPER COMM ASIA 2001" was held at Shanghai Everbright Convention & Exhibition Center, China, from April 25 through 28, 2001 under the auspices of China National Postal and Telecommunications Appliances Corp. (PTAC), Telecommunications Industry Association, USA (TIA) and Communications Industry Association of Japan (CIAJ).
SUPERCOMM, organized by Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) and held annually in Atlanta, is the world's largest annual communications and information technology exhibition and conference. Due to its popularity in Atlanta, TIA together with China National Postal & Telecommunications Appliances Corporation (PTAC) decided to bring this world-class exhibition & conference to Asia. This megashow (sister event to the annual Atlanta show) in China was endorsed by China's Ministry of Information Industry (MII) and was granted "trade fair certification" by the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC).
Manufacturers (including Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, Fujitsu Ltd., Kyocera Corp., Matsushita Communication Industrial Co., Ltd. (MCI, or Panasonic), Hitachi, Ltd., Sanyo Electric Co., Motorola Japan Ltd. and Nortel) and telecommunications carriers (including China Telecom, China Mobile and NTT DoCoMo, Inc.) numbering 88 in total participated in this 15,000-m2 exhibition site.

As regards PHS-related exhibitions, PHS equipment such as 500mW/300mW/20mW cell stations and terminals were exhibited by Kyocera Corp., Sanyo Electric Co., Hitachi, Ltd., UTStarcom and Mitsubishi Electric Corp. In particular, booths of Kyocera Corp. and Sanyo Electric Co. attracted visitors' attentions through well-planned presentations by installing PHS cell stations at the center of their booths, thus making PHS-related exhibitions the focus of the exhibition PT SUPER COMM ASIA 2001.
