The flat-rate data communications service "Air H" (Edge)" (monthly basic charge at 5,800 yen for continuous 32kbps packet communications) commenced by DDI POCKET in August 2001 (refer to the previous issue, PHS MoU Group News No. 35) is gaining popularity in the market. According to a senior manager of the company, about one thousand subscribers are signing up every day.

At the end of October 2001, the number of subscribers to DDI POCKET's PHS service is 2.94 million.
While the current communications speed of Air H" is 32kbps, the company is going to support 128kbps soon, and hybrid terminals with a voice communications function are planned to be shipped.

With high expectations for corporate users' information and communications system demands, DDI POCKET is aggressively moving forward with subscribers expansion plans.
