During five days from October 23 through 27, 2001, "PT/WIRELESS & NETWORKS COMM CHINA 2001," China's largest international exhibition for promoting exchange and cooperation in the information and communications field, was held at the China International Exhibition Center in Beijing, sponsored by the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade.
With the participation of about 400 telecommunications carriers and manufacturers, the exhibition space covered 4,000 square meters and drew more than 230,000 visitors.

The major exhibitions included mobile communications technology and related products such as PHS, microwave communications, paging systems and their equipment, satellite communications, antennas, communications cables, IC cards and IC card technology, Voice over IP (VoIP), measuring instruments, m-commerce and wireless value-added communications services.
In addition, a special seminar was conducted for exchanging information technology, with the themes of network technology, value-added communications services, IC cards and their operation technology, 3G, etc. Among communications carriers, six Chinese telecommunications companies including China Telecom presented exhibitions along with such foreign companies as NTT DoCoMo and SK Telecom of Korea.

In the PHS-related industry, Kyocera, Sanyo, Hitachi and UTSrarcom presented cell stations and terminals. At the UTSrarcom booth, a demonstration was presented of 64-kbps data transmission using the PAS system.
In addition, Kyocera held a PHS seminar as part of its technology exchange policy, attracting many visitors.
