NTT DoCoMo to Introduce First PHS Phone Compatible with M-stage visual

NTT DoCoMo, Inc. launched Lookwalk, its first PHS videophone compatible with DoCoMo's M-stage visual service in July.

The new Lookwalk P751v allows video-conferencing with other compatible terminals such as DoCoMo 3G FOMA phones. Lookwalk also provides e-mail and internet access. A built-in 110,000-pixel CMOS camera enables immediate transmission of moving or still pictures as e-mail attachments to, for example, DoCoMo's eggy, PDAs, or PCs. Still pictures can also be sent to compatible terminals such as FOMA phones.

The M-stage visual video content distribution service currently offers about 300 programs on 78 channels. Users can download or stream various content including movies, news, sports, music, etc. Lookwalk is DoCoMo's first terminal to incorporate both voice and M-stage visual capability.

Lookwalk P751v comes with a 2.2-inch, 262,144-color TFT LCD display and can access nearly 60,000 websites written in HTML version 2.0 (users must have a separate contract for internet services such as DoCoMo's mopera).

Lookwalk has been marketed through all DoCoMo sales channels since July 17, 2002. There is a monthly basic fee of 200 yen (approx. US $ 1.70) for M-stage visual service.
