Honda Electron launches first PHS Data Communications Card for International Roaming Service


Honda Electron Co., Ltd. (a PHS data communications card manufacturer in Japan) launched the first Compact Flash (CF) card type PHS data communications card for 64/32 kbps flex-change PIAFS and 128/32 kbps packet based international roaming services provided by DDI POCKET, Inc. (a leading PHS network service provider in Japan).

PHS handsets offering international roaming services (see PHS MoU Group News No.44), hAH-J3001V/J3002Vh ( - do - ) manufactured by JAPAN RADIO Co., Ltd.

International roaming is enabled using included utility software to provide access to the 64 kbps PIAFS service presently available in Taiwan. Note that international roaming service must be requested separately.

 Rotary Type Antenna
A swiveling rotary-type antenna enables the best possible reception.

 Low Power Consumption
Total current dissipation is less than 175 mA for 128 kbps packet communications, nearly 12.5% less than that of Honda Electron’s ”AH-H401C”.

Lightest CF Card Model
At 16 grams, this is the lightest CF type PHS data communications card.

 Voice Communication Capability with PDA
By downloading proprietary software from Honda Electronfs website to the PocketPC™2002 PDA and plugging gAH-H403Ch into that PDA, voice communication becomes available.
