Aiphone Co, Ltd. (a Japanese intercom and Nurse Call System equipment manufacturer) is supplying a gNurse Call Control Boxh linking a gNurse Call Systemh to a gPatient Collation Systemh in Japan. This control box allow nurses to respond to enurse callf requests and access a gPatient Collation Systemh using a single PHS Personal Station.
   Recent heightened concern about medical malpractice is prompting industry to develop new ways to avoid mistakes in patient care. Properly identifying patients is a central concern, especially for ensuring that medication and dosage is accurate. In the Aiphone system, a PHS personal station equipped with a bar-code reader enables nurses to identify patients and to also receive enurse callf requests. Patient bed number and other identifying information can be displayed, and moreover the devices can also be used to communicate with other nurses. This device combines two formerly separate devices and substantially unburdens nurses.
   These adapted PHS personal stations are manufactured and provided by NEC Infrontia Corporation; the gPatient Collation Systemh is provided by Shimazu System Development Corp.
