A PHS Technology Symposium Held in Singapore
In the afternoon following the General Meeting, the PHS Symposium was held at the same site. About 280 invited guests attended the symposium.
Mr. Andy Gent, CEO of PHS International, spoke about the Expectation for PHS MoU Group activities.
Regarding PHS applications: Mr. K. Nakada, ARIB, presented Outline of PHS Applications; Mr. Y. Shimojo, Vice president of NEC presented Network Application information; Mr. A. Moridera, a Fujitsu board member, spoke on Wireless Local Loops (WLL); Mr. A. Mori, General Manager of Oki, described Private Applications; and Mr. T. Hattori, Chairman of Sub WG of PHS PIAF and Executive Manager of NTT, discussed PHS Data Service Applications.
Mr. Y. Iwamoto, Managing Director of Astel Tokyo, Mr. K. Ooida, Senior Executive Vice President of NTT Central Personal and Mr. T. Onodera, Senior Executive Director of DDI Tokyo Pocket made introductory speeches regarding the present situation of PHS services in Japan.
A panel discussion followed.
Regarding the deployment situation of PHS services: Mr. D. Manion, Chief Executive Officer of Hutchison Corp., introduced Wireless PBX in Suntec Center, Singapore; Mr. P. Wong, Project Director of Hong Kong Telecom, discussed Cordless Access Services in Hong Kong; Mr. B. J. McManus, Chairman of Australian PHS Forum, described Standardization Situation in Australia; and Mr. Ir. P. Kembaren, Technology Director of PT INITI, spoke on the Development Plan of PHS Facilities in Indonesia.
Products and information relating to PHS and the above presentations were displayed at the site by 22 Group Members, attracting a great deal of attention from the participants.
