First International Telecom Corporation (FITEL), the PHS operator in Taiwan, has been deploying the service in the northern area of Taiwan centering on Taipei. But, on April 17, 2004, FITEL has expanded its service area and launched the PHS service in Kaoshiung, the second biggest city of Taiwan. FITEL's next step is to spread the PHS service in the center and the southern area of Taiwan. With this, the number of PHS subscribers is expected to soar.
