SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO) succeeded in commercializing the PHS/GSM dual-mode phone "PGD-G1000" based on its PHS technology grown in Japan and started launching that in Taiwan market from April, 2004. By making standby possible in both PHS and GSM modes, it can be used in both service areas and users' conveniences were improved greatly.


I. Main Features

1. PHS and GSM are combined in one
PHS's good voice quality, low price and efficient data communications capability and GSM's wide area covering are combined in one so that "PGD-G1000" alone enables users to enjoy both services.

2. Standby in dual modes
Standby is available in both PHS and GSM modes. Setting can be made to whichever in dual-mode, PHS mode or GSM mode by users' choices.

3. GSM 900MHz/1800MHz dual band
Both GSM 900MHz and 1800MHz are supported.

4. Built-in 110,000 pixel CCD camera with 3-levels zoom and flash function
110,000 pixel high-sensitivity CCD camera with 3-level zoom and flash function is built-in. An image taken by it can be sent through the PHS network as an attached data to E-mail.

5. Twin TFT Color LCD Display
It has two LCD displays (Main : 1.8 inch color TFT (65,536 colors), Sub : 1.0 inch color TFT (65,536 colors).


II. PHS Function

1. Available for international roaming
By setting the roaming registration, it can be used as PHS not only in Taiwan but also in Japan as well.

2. Available for PIAFS 64Kbps data communications service

3. SMS and E-mail Function

4. Images and ringer melodies etc. are downloadable by contents service


III. GSM Function

1. SMS Function
Editing and sending SMS (Short Messaging Service) messages are available even while engaged in a phone conversation. Further, "Delivery Report Function" enables users to check receiver's receipt of a message.

2. Call Service Function
"Minute Minder" reports a talk time to the user by every one minute, "Fixed Dial" restricts the telephone numbers to be used and "Call Waiting" enables users to accept other incoming call even while engaged in a phone conversation.

3. Call Timer Function
An accumulated talk time until it's reset can be checked by "Total Call" and the last call's talk time can be checked by "Last Call".

4. SIM Copy Function
A phonebook data can be copied to the SIM card. (The number of telephone numbers to be stored depends on the memory capacity of the SIM card to be used.)

5. Call Barring Function
This can restrict all outgoing and incoming calls for both domestic and international calls.

6. Call Forwarding Function
This automatically forwards an incoming call to the telephone number set by users.
