In September alone, 383,000 new PHS service subscribers and the rate of new subscriptions is still rising. The total of new subscriptions for the first half of FY 96 amounted to 2,348,000. In the 15 months since its inception, the PHS service has grown at such a tremendous pace that it won’t be long until the four million subscriptions mark is passed.
Sales promotions are currently intensifying competition in the PHS market, however there remains plenty of room for future growth as a large portion of the potential market remains untapped.
From the end of 1996 or early next year, a new high speed data communications service will be launched, bringing new opportunities to bring even more new subscribers into the PHS fold.
