composed of nationwide 160 thousands
cell stations. Differentiation from other companies' flat-rate
services will also be made within a limited range. Further, an
expansion of the PHS handset's possibilities, promotion of
other industries to enter into the PHS market and the effect of
reducing price can be expected with
WILLCOM-Subscriber Identification Module (W-SIM) used in the
mobile communication terminal "W-ZERO3". WILLCOM will aim
at market expansion by meeting demands for kids, medical
facilities etc., strengthening partnership with contents
providers such as those for stock exchange site. |
WILLCOM has realized both voice and data
flat-rate service by taking full advantage of microcell
network |
2."PHS beyond 3G" by
Mr. Yoshioki Chika WILLCOM is fully responsible for
design, integration and operation of the PHS system and
developing the PHS business variously with unlimited flat-rate service,
SIM style etc. High-speed communication can be realized
without environmental influences at extremely high-efficiency
frequency utilization thanks to ultra high-density microcell planning. The
key is not its communication speed but frequency utilization
efficiency. Advanced PHS (APHS) reinforced by IP access,
half-rate technology etc. has a capability close to that of
3.5G phones. Further, WILLCOM will be promoting the next
generation PHS for wireless broadband services.

have reached 92 million which is 45% of the
fixed
telephone subscribers' net increase.
Services have also been diversified. Lucent's
networks based in Quanzhou, Fujian and Qingdao,
Shandong markets have very high-performance. Lucent
will be realizing 2.5G PHS by introducing
packet technology etc. from now on. Even for
successful introduction of packet into the Chinese market,
all concerned parties should share information
and cooperate. The PHS MoU Group
Secretariat's strong support would be very much
appreciated. |

getting small and some cities
tended to
experience slight subscriber decrease. Now
a small-scale network design and
network optimization have become the mainstream
and the competition among the mobile phone service
providers has become very severe, it's possible to activate
the PHS market by introducing packet service into the
Chinese market and make that diffuse there.
Therefore, new business model should be established
prior to 3G in cooperation with the terminal
vendors and the PHS MoU Group Secretariat in
addition to the system vendors. |

continuously conducting the worldwide development
of an IP access network, reduction of the seamless HandOver
(H/O) time, capacity increase of the Short
Messaging Service (SMS), an introduction of packet service
and Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC) etc. As for the introduction
of new packet service, there will be a possibility of
various markets and applications. Further, UTStarcom will
be promoting the PHS business by opening the Value Added
Service (VAS) platform as an incentive for other companies to
enter into this business and by enriching the service
contents as well. |

"Pitfalls of Modern OFDM Air
Interfaces"by Mr. Peter Khoury

Frequency Division Multiplex (OFDM)
are to be
made. The bigger the window in
time/frequency, the more accurately frequency/time offset
can be measured. Specific pilots for each user
can be used for such measurement, however,
those number must be sufficiently bigger than the
total number of sources and have low
cross correlation as well. If the interference
is averaged, valuable source of diversity will
be provided to the system. Different Pseudo Random
Bit Sequence (PRBS) is to be used during retransmission of
failed packet and the minimum traffic amount is necessary
for maximum efficiency. |
| ArrayComm has a history of having worked on variety of air
interfaces and here a few suggestions based on
its experiences particularly on Orthogonal |
