XGP Booth in Telecom ASIA

ITU　Telecom ASIA 2008 was held in Bangkok, Thailand from September 1 to 5th.（Press Day on Sept. 1st）

The venue of the display is at IMPACT Challenger, which is close to Bangkok International Airport. According to official statistics, 11,585 visitors attended the show. Over 170 companies and organizations including those from Thailand displayed products and latest technologies and services are introduced.

The following introduction is centered on XGP, which made its debut on Asia market other than Japan during the show.

XGP booth is set beside Japan Pavilion.

The displayed items are provided by eight companies/universities which are involved in successive development of W-SIM and other new concept.

Mr. Terasaki Vice-Minister for Policy Coordination (2nd from left）and Mr. Tani Director-General for International Affairs, Global ICT Strategy Bureau from the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communication visited XGP booth on September 4th.

The eight companies exhibited on XGP booth are Willcom, Kyocera, Oki, UTStarcom, Mitsubishi, Hitachi, Wavesat and Altair.

XGP handbook was put on the shelf in the booth for free distribution, and many visitors to the booth took one back.

Displayed items and contents of attending companies are described below:

Willcom

As future prototype lineup, seven types of terminals and one type of base station, which are all in according with the characteristics stipulated as XG007 to XG012 were displayed.

Besides, The popular terminal models in Japan, 03（characterized as model with superior operability than general terminal of the similar function）, D4（UMPC）and 5 models of Honey Bee series are displayed. Young visitors were very much attracted by these models, while visitors who could be potential business users have raised various questions about D4.

Kyocera

Kyocera displayed the mock and antenna of XGP Base Station.

Oki

The platform providing XGP deploying environment was displayed. The right part of Board A is the LSI base of wireless system. The left part is the disk processor for CPU. The board is controlled by soft program.

UTS

XGP Base Station, XGP-GW TC3000 and UE simulator are displayed.

Mitsubish

GE-PON OLT/ONU, the connecting unit between switchboard using optical fiber and wireless base station was displayed. OLT is set in switchboard and ONU is set in base station. Each optical fiber can be connected to up to 64 set of ONUs.


Hitachi

Introduction on global adaptor which can be used worldwide was made. In addition, by cooperating with carrier from certain country, service network with high added-value is to be built. Regarding XGP, many applications are possible to be developed.

It is applied in different occasions in industrial area and in hospital by providing service with high added-value.

Wavesat

Under the title of Intelligent multi-mode 4G Architecture, sample of ODYSSEY LSI was displayed.

Altair

Sample products regarding World Leading 4G Semiconductor Solutions were displayed and introduced.
