Owning to the development of the VoIP technology, many prepaid low international telephone call services merge in Japan. Thanks to the fair rate, these services enjoyed huge popularities among the cooperation with international businesses, as well as among foreigners living in Japan. However a problem is yet to be resolved.  Comparing to the low cost of international calls by this method, the charge for a call to its domestic access point remains high.

Hence a company providing flat-rate international call service paid its attention to W - VPN service offered by WILLCOM and started the service for the foreigners living in Japan. It turned out that several partners have already started to offer international call services at a per-minute rate of less than 5 yen to several major countries.

The W - VPN service offered by WILLCOM connects private extension network with the IP network of the WILLCOM through a dedicated line (PRI / BRI), and assigns an extension number of the company to an exclusive PHS handset. With the fixed rate package including basic charge and optional charge, reaching a PHS user out of the extension area by dialing the extension number only becomes possible.

To offer flat-rate international call services, the private switchboard was replaced with the gateway of the IP international telephone network, and IP international telephone network was connected with WILLCOM network. Thus domestic access can be supplied at a fixed rate which enables the flat –rate international IP telephone business.

Besides, Rakuten mobile offered by Fusion Communications is also a service equipped with W-VPN system. Fusion Communications connects its network with that of WILLCOM’s directly as well and provides service with the merit of two networks. Services with various added values that utilize WILLCOM network is increasing.
